Introduction to Blacksmithing

Discover the craft of blacksmithing through a hands-on introduction to the essential tools and traditional techniques of the trade. You will learn how to work safely with a forge to heat and shape metal, mastering fundamental skills such as bending and forming iron into unique designs.

Axe Making Course

Join us at the forge to craft your very own axe from start to finish. This hands-on course covers fundamental forging techniques and hammer control, followed by grinding and profiling the blade, heat treatment for strength and durability, and finally fitting the handle. By the end of the day, you will have created a fully functional axe — a handcrafted tool designed to last a lifetime.

Viking Age Blacksmithing Course

Step back in time and unleash your inner Viking with our Viking Age Blacksmithing course. This immersive, hands-on experience introduces you to traditional early medieval forging techniques as you craft an authentic-style Viking arrowhead from hot steel, learning the fundamentals of shaping and working metal at the forge.

You will then progress to forging a Viking seax — a historic single-edged blade — developing essential skills including blade shaping, heat treatment for strength and durability, and fitting a handle to complete your piece. By the end of the day, you will have created both a handcrafted arrowhead and a fully finished seax inspired by Viking craftsmanship, ready to take home.
